As the seasons start to change and with autumn almost upon us, it’s time to plan ahead to the final quarter of 2017.
We know summer is drawing to a close when the kids return to school after the summer holidays, central heating is being turned back on across the nation after the long summer and the smells of log-burning fires stoke up delicious memories of yesteryear.
Schedule a ‘date night’
Our Autumn Menu is undergoing final tweaks, providing the perfect excuse to crack open the red wine and enjoy heartier, warming food to take us into the cooler months. It also makes for a good time to sit back and take stock, making sure to spend quality time with your loved ones, family, and friends.
If it feels like you’re missing out on the little things, like catching up with friends or you find you’ve been neglecting the family or your loved ones due to work, it’s time to schedule some ‘time out’ or a ‘date night‘ in your diary to spend quality time with them.
The Red Lion, Odiham
Book a table online here with us at The Queen’s Head East Clandon and enjoy our daily specials and seasonal dishes, or if you feel the need for some proper ‘time out’ but don’t want to travel too far, why not stay overnight at our sister’s place, The Red Lion in the quaint village of Odiham, Hampshire.
The newest sibling to the Red Mist Leisure family, The Red Lion Odiham, near Hook is just 40 minutes away from us here at The Queen’s Head. Located close to the M3 junction 5, it’s an ideal base for exploring the plethora of attractions in and around the Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire border.
Not only is The Red Lion an outstanding pub, which offers fresh, local and seasonal food and drink; they also have seven bedrooms , each offering modern elegance and luxury, whilst retaining a few original features of its grade-listed history.
Overnight Bliss
All bedrooms offer the mod-cons and luxuries you need to guarantee a glorious home-away-from-home experience and perfect sleep. Examples include the ESPA toiletries, luxury Egyptian linen, goose feather and down quilts (allergy options available) to the soft, fluffy white bathrobes.
Local coffee and chocolate
Each bedroom also includes a mini bar, a Dualit coffee machine with complimentary tea-pods and Mozzo coffee-pods to be enjoyed with complimentary local chocolatier Choose Chocolates, who use fresh, local Hampshire ingredients to fill and top each mouthful of deliciousness. We’ve even installed a dedicated wi-fi ISDN line in every room so that you can post piccies of your beautiful room on social media! Should you be travelling with little ones, interconnecting bedrooms are available, along with travel cots and pull-out beds.
Lots to see and do locally
There’s plenty to see and do as a couple, including wrapping up for long walks at Alice Holt and Frensham Ponds followed by lunch at our sister pub The Duke of Cambridge. If you’re looking for a bit of retail therapy or want to get a head start on the festive gift shopping, there’s some great shopping to be done in Basingstoke and Winchester. If you have time, you must stop off on your way home at neighbouring village Hartley Wintney, which has a couple of great boutique shops. Why not make the most of chilling out and finish the afternoon off with a trip to the local cinema to enjoy the latest blockbuster.
Alternatively, you may wish to book ahead with a luxury spa day at local Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire. If you’re more of a food and drink fan, why not try gin tasting at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery , a brewery visit or a tour of local vineyards including Albury, Hattingley Valley and High Clandon vineyards – there’s so much to do, you may just have to stay longer!
